This photo is from February, 1950 and is looking north across the airport. The first thing to notice is Republic Airport used to have three runways.  The third runway ran from the northeast corner of the airport (near New Highway and Conklin Street) to NY Route 110 where hotels recently opened.

Another difference from today is that Runway 14-32 was not yet extended so New Highway runs straight along the east side of the airport instead of making a big bend as it does now. You can also see homes in the lower right corner of the photo in what was called Breslau Gardens.

Other prominent features include the lack of markings on the runways. Also, the intersection of NY Route 110 and NY Route 109 was not grade separated. There is also very little development along NY Route 109 and also NY Route 110.
