It's 1928 and Republic Airport has just opened. This view is from the northeast with the intersection of Conklin Street and New Highway in the front center.
You may be wondering where the runways are because the airport initially was a grass field. Planes had the option of traveling northeast-southwest, northwest-southeast, or east-west right along Conklin Street. Along the left edge of the picture is Hangar 2, which is the building just north of the American Airpower Museum. There is also no development on NY Route 110. |
