Republic Airport Commission

The Republic Airport Commission (RAC) was created in 1982 as part of the Transportation Law, Article 15, Section 14.

The Republic Airport Commission is an advisory council to the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation with respect to the administration and management of the Republic Airport facilities and its surrounding areas. The Commission provides advice on projects to be undertaken at the airport.

The Commission is composed of nine members of the community appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. A designee of the Commissioner of DOT is also a member.

The Commission can advise DOT on:

  • Identification of future capital needs.

  • Financing future capital needs.

  • Examination of financing means for the economic development of the area around the airport.

  • Identification and implementation of ways of working with the local community to accomplish the program.

  • Identification of non-aviation uses and purposes.

The Commission members are volunteers who represent the areas around Republic Airport. The current members are:

The Commission holds regularly scheduled meetings six times a year. There may be other meetings scheduled as needed for airport activities. For additional information on Commission meetings, please call (631) 752-7707 x 6109.
